HEDNA President's Letter - April 2018

Posted By Chris McKee, Wednesday, May 2, 2018

Lisbon, Here We Come!

We are just a few short weeks away from HEDNA Lisbon. Loaded with atmosphere, charm, great food and nightlife, Lisbon was recently dubbed the “coolest” city in Europe.

At the Lisbon conference we will focus on “A Conversation with Tomorrow’s Guest.” We will explore how we must adapt to attract and retain the customer of tomorrow, and the customer of 2, 5 and ten years from now. Our line-up of thought leaders and industry experts will prepare the way for future business success.

Keynotes in Lisbon include 25-year old Steve Bartlett, who in the last few years has become an award winning entrepreneur, speaker and investor and now leads a company of 150+ like-minded individuals who are quickly disrupting the ever-changing social sphere. Neuroscientist and MIT and University College London professor Tali Sharot, a leading expert on human decision-making, optimism and emotion will provide fascinating insight into the complex power of influence, good and bad, to assist us in preparing winning over tomorrow’s guest. Kate Ancketill, chief story-teller at GDR Creative Intelligence, a trend and strategy consultancy, will provide road-tested insights on the technological and human innovations that will change the shape of business over the next five years.

Add to that the knowledge you will gain from sessions on blockchain applications, CRM options and best practices, personalization in revenue management, the payment and distribution tracks and our cutting-edge Innov8ors, and you are sure to return to your offices with key learnings to share with your team and achieve new levels of success.

A Final Word on Austin

The HEDNA Global Distribution Conference concluded its annual event in Austin, Texas with a record number of attendees, captivating keynotes, educational sessions, interviews and engaging discussions. The overwhelming sentiment from all at the event was how relevant and important HEDNA conferences are for hoteliers for staying informed and understanding and competing in today's dynamic landscape. Thank you for the positive feedback you provided in the post conference survey. Your comments allow us to plan future events that most closely match your needs!

HEDNA Working Groups – Tackling Challenges and Providing Solutions

HEDNA’s Working Groups have had a productive start to 2018 and continue to generate thought leadership, drive change and tackle issues across the industry. We kicked off the year with a bang, with all of the Working Groups meeting in person at HEDNA Austin to educate the membership on relevant issues, review 2017 achievements and address 2018 objectives. The Working Groups now have their sights set on Lisbon, where they will tackle new challenges and design their future deliverables. Check out our recent Working Group Newsletter.

Coming to a City Near You!
Looking to advance hospitality distribution through collaboration and knowledge sharing, HEDNA began offering additional Regional Networking and Educational Events in 2017. These events provide the opportunity to connect with key influencers, build business relationships, and exchange ideas. Where would you, our members, like to see us hold future events? So far in 2018 have held networking and education events in Berlin, Washington, DC, and Barcelona, and plans are underway for an event in Shanghai in May. Potential locations for the remainder of 2018 include Omaha, Chicago, Dallas, Phoenix, New York and San Francisco. We would love to hear your thoughts on locations for future events. Please reach out to me with your thoughts.

As always, please reach out with any suggestions, questions or comments about your association! We would not be here without your engagement and support.
