HEDNA President’s Letter

Posted By Chris McKee, Thursday, November 30, 2017

Dear HEDNA Members –

HEDNA continues to operate in high gear as we welcome new members to the association, host regional networking events and HEDNA University sessions, participate in webinars and prepare for HEDNA Austin in January 2018.

What’s on the (Near) Horizon?

HEDNA isn’t just about twice-yearly conferences. We are increasingly focused on engaging members throughout the year with regional networking events, HEDNA University sessions, webinars, and more.

Our networking event in Dallas in April was so successful we are going back to Texas at the end of the month, and this time we’re bringing HEDNA U 2.0 with us! Join us on November 30 at the Omni Frisco Hotel in Frisco, TX for HEDNA U 2.0: Delving into Distribution, followed by a networking and cocktails. Find out more here.

Can’t make it to Dallas for HEDNA U 2.0? How about Las Vegas? We’re bringing the 2.0 team to the offices of MGM Resorts International on December 5. Modules covered in Las Vegas will include Transactions and Functionality; Content; and Emerging Channels. Here are the details.  Know everything about Distribution and want to learn about revenue?  We are also hosting a Revenue 101 session in partnership with IDeaS.   Find out more here.

HEDNA Working Groups have been so busy that they are getting their own newsletter. Stay tuned for a separate, comprehensive update on WG deliverables and accomplishments. Chief among the WG successes is the Payments Webinar Series held in September and October that enjoyed record attendance. Weren’t about to attend? Listen to the recordings through the Members Only pages of HEDNA’s website. The final webinar in the series, covering Third Party Commissions, will take place on December 4th, you can register here.

Drumroll Please

HEDNA is thrilled to announce the stellar lineup of keynote speakers at the upcoming Global Distribution Conference in Austin, January 29-31, 2018. Harper Reed, Head of Commerce at Braintree, a PayPal company is described as “hard to miss in a room” and is fascinated by how technology continues to shape, transform and empower human behavior.  Justin Rao, Head Economist & VP of Data Science, HomeAway, will discuss the rapid pace of innovation in the vacation rental industry and the disruption it’s leaving in its wake. Professor Peter Stone, from The University of Texas at Austin’s Department of Computer Science will share his award winning work in Artificial Intelligence.

The registration pricing for the January conference has been lowered to allow you to bring more of your team to Austin. Details can be found on the Austin Conference page.

Not Ready for Prime Time (or HEDNA) – We are bummed to report that the Fairmont Austin won’t be ready in time for HEDNA in January. Construction delays mean we have to relocate the meeting. Our new home is the Sheraton Austin at the Capitol. The new reservation link is up and running – so book now! For those of you registered at the Fairmont, the hotel will be reaching out to assist you in cancelling your booking.

Showcase Your Brand

There are numerous ways to maximize your company’s exposure in Austin. Our sponsor packages and participation in the Innov8 session offer high impact solutions for showcasing your product or brand. Learn more here.

Wait? There’s More?

Yes! 2018 promises to offer more ways than ever to learn, exchange and grow. Plans are underway for a comprehensive update of our HEDNA University curriculum, with input from academia and industry thought leaders. Six regional networking events are planned around the world in 2018. We are strengthening and increasing our industry partnerships and expanding our webinar subject matter. And don’t forget to mark your calendars for HEDNA’s Global Distribution Conference in Lisbon, Portugal, June 4-6, 2018.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any suggestions, questions or comments about your association! We would not be here without your engagement and support.

As we approach the holiday season, we wish you and yours the very best.
